London Overview

OROGOLD-LondonLondon – mere mentions of the name is enough to conjure images of an extremely powerful past. A living and breathing museum that offers tourists with sprawling landscapes, delightful attractions and enchanting beauty, it comes as no surprise that London is among one of the top travel destinations in the world. This historical city offers an insight into the great English culture that has played a huge role in shaping up most of the modern world. The historical attractions of London take tourists back to the great British Empire, while mammoth skyscrapers and modern day attractions ensure that there is more than enough for the 21st century visitor.

London has always known to be a mixture of two worlds – historical and modern, stylish and traditional, laid back and fast paced. It is one of those very few cities where Afternoon Tea is as important those late night parties; a city where grand gardens, museums and castles delight you during the day while hearty pub food and an electric nightlife offer more than enough things to do at night.

The first time visitor quickly learns that London can be a lot of fun and extremely fascinating at the same time. It gives them a glimpse of all that England stands for and also offers them with more fun activities than they can possibly enjoy during their short stays in the city. The ideal way to explore this historical city is to immerse yourself in its local neighborhoods and communities. Considered to be a melting pot of cultures, each neighborhood in London boasts of its own culture and flair. Each neighborhood is also famous for its own attractions and its own way of life.

The city is a year-round tourist destination and very few attractions close down or reduce their visitor timings during the chilly winter months. The best chance of enjoying the weather is between the months of July – August, but even then there’s no guarantee that you’ll have enough of the sun during these months. The climate is among the mildest in all of England and it is nothing if not fickle – You can expect rain clouds to hide the sun even during the summer months.

Some of the best districts in London include Westminister (a small city in its own right), Soho (famous for hosting London’s gay village and fashionable nightclubs, restaurants and bars), South Bank (home to several theaters, the iconic London Eye and enchanting views), Convent Garden (one of the main entertainment and shopping districts in London) and Bloomsbury (a historic district that gained its popularity as the area where the grand British Museum is located).

With so much to see and do, it is easy to get overwhelmed while traveling to London. The ideal way to explore the city is to settle down on a few neighborhoods and some of the must-see attractions and explore them in great details. No matter where your interests lie, trips to the Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Harrods, British Museum, National Gallery and the Cabinet War Rooms should not be ignored. The restaurant scene and nightlife in London is also known to be fabulous!
