Great Arizona Spa Destinations

Hyatt Hotel, Arizona

EQRoy / Shutterstock.com

Arizona is home to some of the finest spas in the country, with Phoenix, Scottsdale, Sedona and Tucson being four of the main spa hot spots in the state. While Arizona’s dry and hot climate has its advantages in a spa setting, the state has also long since attracted some of the most talented alternative healers from around the world, making it the perfect location for both traditional and innovative spas to set up shop.

Canyon Ranch, Tucson
Situated in Tucson’s Sonoran Desert, Canyon Ranch is a luxurious, world-renowned destination spa that offers up everything from wellness programs to healthy gourmet meals. The spa building itself measures around 80,000 square feet and boasts over 40 treatment rooms. The spa places a strong emphasis on fitness, with over 50 different classes held on a daily basis, and also has a highly rated medical program, with a focus on alternative treatments, such as acupuncture. From the kitchen demonstrations at lunch time to a session on an underwater treadmill to a rejuvenating full body massage, this spa really does seem to provide it all.

The Centre for Well Being, The Phoenician, Scottsdale
The Phoenician’s Centre for Well Being offers a results-driven spa menu, with the owners usually spending months testing out different treatments, ensuring that they provide visible results, before offering them to their guests. The 22,000 square feet spa building has 24 treatment rooms, and there are a wide range of fitness classes on offer, as well as some other unique services. Herbologists are on site to chat with guests about their diet, while a biomechanics session will help to pinpoint what is wrong with your body, as well as how to fix it.

Golden Door Spa, Scottsdale
Measuring 33,000 square feet, Scottsdale’s Golden Door Spa at the Boulders has its original location in California and has managed to perfectly combine elements from here with native treatments and ingredients from Arizona. The spa in itself, with its curved white walls and bright and airy interior, is a pleasure to spend time in, with a delicious café that serves up healthy spa cuisine in both indoor and outdoor dining areas. For those unsure about which treatments to opt for, the spa’s signature treatments will never disappoint, and feature everything from a Cleansing and Releasing Massage to a Desert Sage Detox.

Alvadora Spa, Royal Palms Resort and Spa, Phoenix
Old fashioned indulgence is the focus at the Alvadora Spa, with the entire spa set up to make you feel as though you are in a traditional Mediterranean paradise, complete with balconies, gardens and fountains. Rather than using ingredients from the desert like the other spas in Arizona, the Alvadora Spa opts for Mediterranean ingredients in their treatments, such as orange blossoms and grapeseeds.

For those who want the ultimate in spa indulgence, you will not go wrong with a visit to Arizona, where there are so many incredible options to choose from. Each spa will have their own areas of specialty whether this may be a focus on overall wellness or an emphasis on native ingredients, so be sure to take a good look at each one before making your decision.

Hiatus Spa + Retreat

Woman having champagneHiatus revolutionized the spa industry in 2007 by introducing the concept of spa memberships. While the spa may also have locations in Austin and Plano, their Dallas branch was their very first and continues to win awards for the many different treatments on offer. With seventeen private treatment rooms, an intimate couples suite, a nail therapy lounge and a hydrotherapy room, this spa has been specifically designed to provide the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation.

Massages
Each of the many massages offered by Hiatus are tailored to suit your exact needs, with an emphasis being placed on any problem areas. The Stress-Fix Massage combines Swedish and deep tissue massage techniques, alongside foot reflexology and guided meditation, while the Chakra Balancing Massage uses unique essential oil blends on the seven chakra energy points within the body.

Nail Therapy
The nail services offered by Hiatus have won numerous awards over the years, which isn’t too much of a surprise when you enter the nail therapy lounge. The Hiatus Mani-Pedi is the most popular option, with guests relaxing in a zero gravity chair to enjoy the feeling of weightlessness, while a scented neck pillow, as well as an aromatherapy scent of your choice, enhance the whole experience with their calming fragrances. This customized sensual journey is completed with the use of ultra-safe and Vegan-friendly SpaRitual nail colors, with the choice of upgrading to an eco-gel manicure.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient technique that has been proven to treat a number of medical conditions, and, in addition to offering the standard form of acupuncture with fine, disposable needles, Hiatus also provides a needle-less acupuncture therapy, which makes use of a microcurrent device, as well as therapeutic color light, instead of needles, to stimulate the different energy points around the body. Hiatus also offers a facial acupuncture service, which has been known to result in a smoother and clearer complexion, significantly reducing any visible signs of aging.

Body Treatments and Facials
For those who want to treat their body to some TLC, Hiatus’ body treatments are ideal, and, just like all of the other treatments that they offer, there are many to choose from. Their Shirodhara treatment is one of their most unique, making use of an ancient Ayurvedic technique to help release tension and anxiety. Other body treatments available include a hydrating body wrap, customized aromatherapy and exfoliation, an aromatic steam treatment, and much more. The facials on offer are just as exciting, each of them designed to bring out the best in your skin, leaving it toned, radiant, lifted, and more youthful than ever before.

In addition to all of these incredibly tempting treatments available, Hiatus also offers treatments that have been designed specifically for men, as well as others that are gentle enough for expectant mothers. It is clear to see that this is a spa that truly puts the needs of their guests first, with their main priority being to uplift and rejuvenate just about everybody that walks through their door.

The Biltmore Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara beach

Now owned by the Four Seasons group, the Biltmore Santa Barbara was first opened in 1927, boasting iconic Spanish Colonial architecture that sets it apart from its competition. An oceanfront resort situated on idyllic Butterfly Beach, the Biltmore offers luxury accommodation, beach-side dining venues, rejuvenating spa treatments and a number of other unique activities, all the while tying this in with its historic charm.

The Accommodation
Unlike the many high-rise hotels that have become all-too-common, the Biltmore consists of low-lying buildings and single storey bungalows, each being home to around five guest rooms and boasting private entrances. The Ty Warner Bungalow not only includes a large living area with a fireplace, but also a 1000 square foot garden patio, complete with fire pit and heated plunge pool, while the Anacapa Suite has a private driveway and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Each of the various rooms offer something slightly different, and are able to cater to just about every need that their guests may have.

Dining Options
The Biltmore is home to some of Santa Barbara’s most revered restaurants. Bella Vista, the resort’s Italian restaurant, is considered to be the restaurant with the most beautiful oceanfront setting in all of Santa Barbara, and has made quite the name for itself thanks to their focus on fresh and organic ingredients, as well as their iconic Sunday brunches. Tydes, which focuses on modern Californian coastal cuisine, is another one of the resort’s oceanfront restaurants, overlooking Butterfly Beach, but is a much more exclusive venue and is only open to guests of the resort and members of the nearby Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club. In terms of their more casual dining options, guests can choose from the Coral Café and Bar, as well as Fins, which focuses on healthy and light dishes.

The Spa
The resort’s spa consists of eleven elegant treatment rooms, with the treatments on offer making full use of ingredients from the ocean, as well as botanicals from the many gardens of Santa Barbara. With fourteen different massages, as well as a range of body and facial treatments, this is the ideal way for guests of the Biltmore to relax and unwind.

Beach Volleyball
For guests that are sports enthusiasts, the Biltmore offers a truly unique experience that guarantees to make your stay totally unforgettable. Santa Barbara native Todd Rogers is a two-time Olympic gold medallist, and has been playing beach volleyball for around twenty years. The Biltmore can arrange for guests to spend some time on world-famous East Beach with Rogers, picking up some of the many tips he has learned over the years while facing off against the champion for a friendly match.

Sophisticated yet casual, the Biltmore perfectly mirrors California’s vibe, and offers guests the opportunity to truly indulge. With a stunning oceanfront setting, some of the best dining options in all of Santa Barbara, and activities to make each visit extra-special, it is no surprise that the Biltmore is considered to be one of the finest resorts in the region.

Hawaii’s Most Indulgent Spas – OROGOLD Reviews

Woman enjoying a spa session

When in a setting as tropically idyllic as Hawaii, there is nothing better than pampering yourself with a couple of treatments at a luxurious island spa. From a spa without walls to a completely customizable pampering experience, OROGOLD brings you the most indulgent spas in Hawaii.

Pure Kauai, North Shore, Kauai
For a truly indulgent, completely customizable spa experience, head to Pure Kauai, on the north shore of Kauai. With private chefs to cook you healthy meals, yoga instructors, personal trainers, facialists and some of Hawaii’s best massage therapists, you can’t help but feel as though you are in paradise. In addition to the immense relaxation that you will feel at the spa, there is also a large outdoor aspect to Pure Kauai, and OROGOLD absolutely loves the other activities on offer, including surf lessons, all day hikes, canoeing, horseback riding and much more.

The Spa Without Walls, Kohala Coast, Big Island
This al fresco spa without walls has both oceanfront and waterfall treatment huts, where they offer a range of rejuvenating treatments. From the Hawaiian lomilomi massage and foot wrap to the Kahinu body treatment, each session is intensified by the sweet scent of the wild orchids and gardenias all around, as well as by the sound of crashing waves, giving you the ultimate in blissful experiences. There is also a steam room, a dry sauna, and a small boutique for you to purchase any of the signature spa products that you are likely to have fallen in love with.

Spa Grande, Wailea, Maui
Being located in the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa, an $800 million resort that boasts 780 rooms and 9 swimming pools, means that, even before entering the spa, you can almost guess just how indulgent Spa Grande is going to be. Measuring 50,000 square feet, and with 40 different treatment rooms, Spa Grande offers a variety of experiences, but their speciality is hydrotherapy. In addition to the huge jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, you will also find Japanese furo baths, Swiss showers, waterfall massages, and ‘speciality’ baths, created with local botanicals and mineral salts.

Mauna Lani, Kohala Coast, Big Island
Located amongst the vast lava fields of the Kohala Coast, this spa belongs to the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows, and is one of the most spiritual spas that OROGOLD has found in Hawaii. The walls of the showers, as well as the edges of the pathways, are formed from real lava, and the grounds are filled with beautifully fragrant medicinal herbs and plants. All of the therapists seem to exude a calming, healing energy, many of whom are Native Hawaiian and have been performing authentic massages for years. To indulge even further, take a look at staying in one of the five bungalows, each with their own butler service, as not only can you relax in one of the most exclusive bungalows in Hawaii, but therapists will also come to your bungalow to give you private treatments.

Hawaii is known for its ancient healing powers, and this is reflected in the many traditional spa treatments that you will find on each of the islands. Whether your back is filled with painful knots, or you simply want to relax in a Japanese bath, you can be sure that you will leave Hawaii feeling more rested than ever.
